The cold will return to France from Wednesday 21st February, 2018. The drop in the thermometer, accentuated by the wind, should continue until the end of the month.
A cold, dry weather . From Wednesday, February 21, the temperatures will show a negative on three quarters of the country, except in the Pyrenees where it will snow again .
“The shores of the Mediterranean and those of the Channel will also be spared by this drop in temperatures,” says La Chaîne Météo .
“4 degrees below normal of season”
In the morning, the country will experience a widespread frost north of the Seine to the Rhône-Alpes Auvergne with minimum between – 4 and 0 degrees. Temperatures will be milder on the west of the country and along the Mediterranean with 2 to 6 degrees.

In the afternoon, the thermometer will evolve average from 5 degrees in the North to 7 degrees in the South. And The Weather Channel to clarify: “We will be 4 degrees below normal season. ”
“Cold temperatures but not excessively”
The arrival of a cold and very dry anticyclonic current from the Scandinavian countries and Russia should generate an icy wind until the end of the week, at least. The cooling could be more serious early next week, “linked to a new arrival of polar air from northeastern Europe”.
Météo France confirms that “this impression of cold will be accentuated by a sensitive wind”. According to the forecasters, “these cold but not too cold temperatures will be maintained until next weekend, with local minimums a little colder, especially along the Atlantic coast where frosts will be frequent.
Five departments on orange alert
Meteo France placed on Monday 19th February, four departments of the Pyrenees in orange alert for avalanche risk: Ariège, Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées and Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The latter, along with that of the Landes, is also under the threat of floods. The end of the alert is expected, at the earliest, Wednesday 21st February at 9pm.
