The British motorcyclist Daniel Hegarty died Saturday in a crash that occurred at the Macau Grand Prix, a historic and famous race after losing control of his motorcycle and violently hit a barrier on the circuit.

The race was immediately stopped after the accident on lap 6. Member of the Topgun Racing Honda team, Hegarty, who was aged 31, was thrown from his motorcycle in a curve. Immediately rushed to the hospital, he finally succumbed to his injuries.
Organisers of the Macau Grand Prix expressed their “sympathy to the family and friends of Daniel.”
