As envisaged in the government’s plan to fight against poverty , the revenu de solidarité active (RSA) will increase in September, the government announced Tuesday the collective Alert (charitable associations) at a meeting at Matignon. The Social Affairs Minister Marisol Touraine announced at that meeting that the decrees would be taken “in the coming weeks” for the RSA can be upgraded in September, told AFP François Soulage, chairman of the collective Alert.
An increase of about 1.6%
This will be the fifth exceptional increase of RSA since 2013, the government decided in the multiannual plan against poverty to increase this service by 10% in five years, in addition to inflation.
According to François Relieves the amount of the increase was not specified but it should be of 1.6% to the 10% target.
The RSA is currently at 535 euros per month for a single person. It increases with household composition.
Additional 150,000 people will have access to the CMU-C
Moreover, the current income limits for access to the CMU-C (supplementary universal health coverage) and for the additional health aid (ACS) will be raised, the government said at the meeting, François Relieves added.
Besides Marisol Touraine were present government side of the cabinet Bernard Cazeneuve , ministers Myriam El Khomri (Labour) and Emmanuelle Cosse (Housing), and Secretary of State Ségolène Neuville (Disability and Fight against exclusion).
According to François Relieves, raising the income ceiling means “150,000 additional people” will have access to the CMU-C.
