Dominating for most of the match, England managed to open the scoring late in the game but Russia equalise in final minutes in their match of Euro 2016.
It was the first game in this Euro 2016 for England and Russia who battled tonight at the Stade Velodrome. Largely dominating the English team were able to penetrate the Russian team defence many times during the match, using their speed. Kane, Lallana, Dele Alli or Rose and Rooney have alternately tried their luck in vain. Finally it is twenty minutes from the end of the match that England were finally able to take the lead from a free kick from Dier. Shortly before this, Rooney and Sterling had found the goalposts of Akinfeev. For their part, the Russians showed nothing offensively and struggled to exist throughout the meeting except, perhaps, during the first five minutes of the second half. Late in the game, however, the Russians snatched the tie on a goal by Glushakov in the 2nd minute of added time (92nd minute). England may be angry as they have had opportunities to win
