François Hollande and Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister of Luxembourg, reiterated on Tuesday the “need for a clear and rapid timetable as possible” for the notification of the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
Following a meeting at the Elysee, the two men “recalled that only this notification, with Article 50, would negotiations begin” , said the Elysee in a statement. MM. Holland and Bettel also expressed “their agreement on a recovery of the European Union” around “three priorities” .
The first concerns “the internal and external security” , passing “through enhanced protection of the external borders of the EU and have a European defense capacities and means of intervention necessary”.
