Six departments in the North west of France are on a Orange weather warning

Disruptions are expected from Sunday night on the West and North West of France …

Six western departments and the Northwest of France were placed in orange alert for strong winds announced from Sunday night, according to the bulletin of Météo France broadcast Sunday at 6 o’clock.

Côtes d’Armor, Finistère, Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany, Calvados and Manche are affected by this alert. The event is scheduled for Sunday evening from 10pm and will end at midday on Monday.

Peaks at 130 km/h near the coast

“A depression on the Atlantic moves quickly across to Europe,” said Meteo France. “Depression will approach the Finistère coast during the night of Sunday to Monday. It will generate gusty southwest wind, first on Finistère in first part of night and the rest of Brittany, also Calvados and the Manche department in second part of the night, “according to the weather forecasting agency.

“These gusts will reach up to 100 km/h, sometimes 110 km/h inland, and between 110 to 120 km/h or 130 km/h near the coast.  Moreover, heavy rains are expected as well, especially in the hills of western Brittany.  Finally, high waves are expected near the Atlantic coast, “said Meteo France.
