The regulated sales tariffs (TRV) for gas, applied by Engie to millions of French households, will fall by 2.4% on 1st October, announced on Friday the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE). “This decrease is 0.6% for customers who use gas for cooking, 1.4% for those who have dual use, cooking and hot water, and 2.5% for homes that heat gas, “ says the regulator.
This development reflects the application of a tariff formula defined at the end of June by government order, recalls the CRE. Engie’s regulated tariffs, applied to nearly 4 million French households, usually vary from month to month depending on the costs of gas supplies, infrastructure and marketing, as well as various taxes.
But the government had decided to lower less than expected by this mechanism on July 1st to then smooth the decline over several months so as not to cause too much variation on the bills in the fall. Regulated gas sales tariffs must disappear in the next few years.
