Renault is rejuvenating its traffic to make it more efficient and offer a more pleasant work tool or even a very family-friendly leisure vehicle. From 23 750 euros HT.
For the 2019 vintage, the Renault Trafic is getting a makeover, the aesthetic retouches giving it a more rewarding style with a more expressive grille with chrome inserts, full LED headlights with a C-shaped light signature.
It always comes in two lengths and two heights, a useful volume of 3.2 to 8.6 m3, and extends from the van to the transport of people. Its interior is more harmonious and qualitative with new upholstery and fabrics with a more pleasant touch. The back of the passenger seat folds down to make a desk, while below is a tank of 54 litres.
Life on board is, of course, connected and the navigation screen is compatible Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, not to mention support for your smartphone. The loading area has been optimized and has LED lighting. Its new polypropylene upholstery makes cleaning easier.
Last generation engines
The Trafic is equipped with a new range of 2-litre diesel turbo engines meeting the Euro 6d-temp standards in three power levels: 120, 145 and 170 hp. The last two have the big advantage of taking advantage of the Getrag double clutch automatic transmission option.
However, at the entry level, Renault has retained a 1.6 litre of 95 hp for low-demand customers and presented at a modest price starting at 23,750 euros HT. For others, the standard or optional equipment, depending on the finish, can be used, for example, the parking aid front/rear with a rearview camera and the anti-swaying system of a trailer.
Traffic is flexible and infinitely customizable, offering many conversions and tailor-made transformations in a van, cabin floor with, for example, the tipper, and the transport of people up to nine places.
Space Class, the mobile show
The Traffic can also meet the needs of individuals to travel while staying in his living room and family, with, at disposal, individual LED reading lights, 2 USB ports and a 220-volt socket. This is the role of the Space Class version, with leather upholstery, floor carpeting and a jersey headliner offering cosy comfort, sliding, swivel and removable individual seats and a sliding and retractable shelf. Up to 6 seats facing each other is possible, without sacrificing the volume of 1.8 m3. No more worries to go on vacation, but obviously, you have to handle a 5.40m long vehicle. Animated by the 170 hp served by the EDC6 box, its size is quickly forgotten.
Sedan behaviour… or almost
The Space Traffic Class is easily led, power is channelled through the first three fairly short reports (30, 50 and 90 km / h) but then the three followings give preference to consumption since the 4th flirts with 150 km/h.
Suspensions absorb holes and retarders well, and rolling sounds are properly controlled. The road behaviour is healthy but the three rounds of the steering wheel, you remember that its base is a utility … and that the Space Class can, on occasion, become a working tool again. Its price starts at 42,500 euros including all taxes, with the 145 hp which entitles to diamond rims, shiny black exterior elements and an exclusive Gray Comète shade. Finally, it takes 1,000 euros more for the 170 hp and 2,100 euros for the boxcar.
