Meteo France warns of snow and ice in the East of France

Meteo France has raised the alert it had launched on 18 departments, including those of Lorraine, for dangerous phenomena related to snow and ice until Monday morning

There will eventually be no snow. Or very little. Météo France lifted Sunday late afternoon the alert she had launched earlier on 18 departments in eastern and central France.

The yellow alertness to the snow and ice storm was initially expected to last until Monday 7th January at 6am.

For the four Lorraine departments, the  Meurthe-et-Moselle, the Meuse, the Moselle and the Vosges, the alert had been put in place Friday evening.

In detail, here are the 18 departments that were placed in vigilance : the Meuse, the Meurthe-et-Moselle, the Moselle, the Bas-Rhin, the Haut-Rhin, the Vosges, the Haute-Marne, the Territoire de Belfort, Haute-Saône, Doubs, Jura, Côte d’Or, Saône-et-Loire, Rhone, Loire, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme and Haute-Loire.

In the Vosges , roads were moderately snowy Saturday noon.

It is also in the Vosges that some flakes were still likely to fall this Sunday night and early night. No snow elsewhere in Lorraine according to forecasts.

But the situation in eastern France this weekend has nothing to do with the snowdrifts that are paralyzing the north of Greece .

Or the north of Italy, on the Austrian border.
