On Saturday, September 22, 2018, Airbus announced that its A350 XWB “Ultra Long Range” was ready to be delivered to Singapore Airlines, for the longest commercial flights in history.
It is ready to take off and break records. Airbus has announced that its A350 XWB “Ultra Long Range” model, hypothetically capable of flying from Toulouse to Australia non-stop, will be delivered on Saturday 22nd September, 2018 to its customer, Singaopore Airlines .
Commissioned on October 11th
After landing in Singapore, there will be only a few preparations before being able to put into operation the longest commercial flight ever made: Thursday 11th October, 2018, the first flights connecting the city-state and New York , the United States, will take airs for flights that should, on average, last 18 hours and 45 minutes, without touching the ground. “We are opening a new chapter in the history of nonstop air transport,” said Tom Enders, Chief Executive Officer of Airbus.

Such autonomy, the Airbus A350 XWB “Ultra Long Range” owes it to a modified fuel system and has a tank with a capacity of 165,000 liters . Other optimizations have also been put in place, such as longer winglets to promote aerodynamics or new low-consumption Rolls Royce engines .
Los Angeles and San Francisco
This is just the beginning for Singapore Airlines, which has already ordered 7 aircraft of this kind from the European aircraft manufacturer. Two new lines, Singapore / Los Angeles and Singapore / San Francisco , will follow that to New York, still non-stop.
