In Le Mans, Night work on the trams until the 24th August

At Le Mans, Setram takes advantage of the summer to work on its 2 tram lines. Traffic is interrupted in the evenings, on weekdays, but relay buses are available

“A tramway calls for preventive maintenance”

At  Setram , Le Mans (Sarthe), we prefer to play the card of preventive work rather than curative, as explained by Michelle Karam, communication officer. “A tramway requires preventive maintenance to ensure the smooth running of the network throughout the year.”

In other words, it is better to be safe than sorry to use a famous proverb.

Nobody wants to relive the dark day of the 1st June, 2018 when the movement of trains had to be interrupted between the Jacobins station and Bellevue because of a fall of the LAC (Airline Contact) occurred at night, at the terminus … The situation could only be solved at the end of the afternoon …

Buses instead of trams from 7:30 pm

The summer period is the most conducive to this kind of maintenance work on the LAC due to user holidays. The night worksite mobilizes the teams of Setram and also those of Alstom , the giant railway equipment. “This year, the works are more important than usual, which means that we have to stop the traffic as early as 7:30 pm”

This will be the case until August 10 on the two lines T1 (Antares-MMArena / University) and T2 (Espal-Arch of Nature / Bellevue-Hauts de Coulaines), from Monday to Friday. The works mark indeed a break on weekends.

To overcome this interruption, the Setram sets up relay buses near the usual stations, whenever possible. All times of passage are on the site www.setram.fr .

Only between Saint-Martin and Espal from August 13th

A second salvo of works will take place from August 13 to 24, 2018 but only the branch between St. Martin and Espal will be unavailable at night. The line T2 will continue to work all the trains will continue towards Antares instead of forking towards Espal and the district of Les Sablons. Here again, alternative buses will be available to users.

It will be a question of performing the cleaning of the water boxes in other words the gutters. A task entrusted to the ViaTechspecialist company that is already working on Le Mans Métropole, with its small yellow trucks, for the hydrodecapage of pavers.

A new network is emerging in September

Hardly the period of work will be completed at the end of August that we will already have to think of a return rich in movement to the Setram. The bus network will actually experience a real upheaval with the redesign and the several lines. Never seen since 2007 and the entry into service of the tramway.

Several information campaigns for users are on the menu. The teams will be on the field especially during the next Le Mans Fair.

The Setram also announces the launch of a new application on smartphones .
