The number of road deaths in mainland France fell slightly in January, with 235 killed, 20 fewer than in January 2017, Road Safety reported Tuesday.
After three consecutive years of growth, the curve reversed at the end of 2017 , with a decline of -1.2% over the entire year (45 fewer deaths than in 2016). To support this movement, the government has planned in July to reduce to 80 km/h the maximum speed on 400,000 km of secondary roads, against 90 km / h currently.
The number of deaths on the roads of France has decreased slightly in 2017, with 3,693 people killed in mainland France and overseas. Since 2014, France had recorded three consecutive years of growth, an unprecedented situation since 1972.
