Marine Le Pen is to stand as a candidate for the Legslative elections in Pas de calais

The president of the Front National, Marine Le Pen announced on Thursday night on TF1 her candidacy for parliamentary elections in the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais.

Challenged internally since losing in the second round of the presidential election faced Emmanuel Macron (66.1% – 33.9%), daughter of Jean-Marie Le Pen, who is currently on the European Parliament, questioned the suitable way to embody the title of “leader of the opposition” she now claims in France.

“I could not imagine not being at the head of my troops in a battle that I consider fundamental” , she said. “I am not particularly hesitant” . Her chances of victory are real in the stronghold of Henin-Beaumont, a city whose Steeve Briois, vice president of the FN, is the mayor.

During the 2007 legislative elections, she was the only candidate to qualify the FN in the second round with 41.65% of votes in the 14th district of the Pas-de-Calais. In 2012, she was beaten with fewer than 200 votes apart in the 11th district against the Socialist Philippe Kemel.

In the second round of the presidential election of 2017, Le Pen garnered 58.17% of votes in the same constituency. The parliamentary elections are held on the 11th and 18th June.
