Big traffic delays, Thursday morning 20th April. Since 7.30 am, sixty striking garbage workers block the Cheviré bridge in the north – south highway that connects the south and north of the city of Nantes. Moreover, the three waste collection sites are still blocked, as are two waste sorting centers, including the incineration plant at Prairie Mauves.
Each day the escalation increases. Since Tuesday the Nantes garbage strike climb a notch every 24 hours in the conflict between them and Nantes council. They are headwind against the reorganization of the collection, which will come into force on the 1st October. And demand, since yesterday, Wednesday 19th April, to talk to the head of Nantes City Council, Johanna Rolland, to review all of the proposed changes.

One of their only points of agreement with management? they agree to terminate the system said the “party-finished”, which allows each agent to return home once the job is completed. Thursday morning, they add to their maneuvers the Cheviré Bridge blockage. They arrived on site at 7.30am, sixty protestors, on foot, says Rachid Mimouni, FO refering to the block. Later in the day, they plan to land “in town, to make ourselves heard.”
