After Nestlé, Lactalis is Recalling Six Batches of Infant Milk in France and 17 Other Countries

Alert: The food giant, Lactalis has detected a “potential presence” of cereals in batches of infant milk
Lactalis has just announced the immediate recall of six batches of infant milk in France. Only the Picot brand is concerned. In total, eighteen countries are affected by this recall “particularly in Latin America”, as well as Spain. According to the world number one milk company, these batches could have a “potential presence” of “cereulide”. This substance of bacterial origin is likely to cause diarrhea and vomiting.
A few days ago, the Nestlé group announced carry out a voluntary booster of infant milk in around sixty countries due to the potential presence of “cereulides”. Nestlé CEO Philipp Navratil even apologized in a video released Wednesday.
French health authorities said Tuesday that investigations were underway after the death of a baby having consumed infant milk produced by Nestlé. For the moment, no link has been established.
A targeted international supplier
For its part, Lactalis gave some details on the incriminated product. “It is an international supplier that offers ARA”, specifies Lactalis. This omega is often used in the composition of certain infant milks. It is unknown if this is the same supplier as Nestlé.
This withdrawal comes as Lactalis is the target of strong criticism from many members, who complain of a collapse in dairy prices. Since November, the price of milk has fallen by 40 euros per 1,000 liters reports France 3.
