Leclerc, Carrefour… Shrimp Recalled Throughout France: They Could be Contaminated with Listeria

Many cans of shrimp have been recalled throughout the country since Wednesday 1st october 2025.
Summer is over, but that doesn’t mean we don’t buy more shrimp in France. Be careful, however, of the one whose head you tear off at the next meal: a multitude of boxes sold in very popular supermarkets are recalled, relays the government site Rappel-Conso.gouv.fr.
The small animals could have been contaminated with listeria and therefore be unfit for consumption, even dangerous.
Products in detail
The first reminder concerns peeled shrimp without coloring, “ideal (sic) in salad”, of the miti brand. Packaged in sachets of 180, 250 and 100 g, these products have been sold in potentially all Auchan, Leclerc, Casino, Carrefour, Norocean, Pomona, Système U in France since the 22nd September 2025.
To recognize them, you must refer to the health mark, FR 44 143 005 EU, but also to the barcodes and batch numbers, in this case:
- barcode 3760070016819, lot n° 52650, use-by date 07/10/2025
- barcode 3760070016802, lot n° 52650 use-by date 07/10/2025
- barcode 3760070016147, lot n° 52650 use-by date 07/10/2025
- barcode 3760070016055, lot n° 52650 use-by date 07/10/2025
The second reminder this time, mention brand shrimp Carrefour Bio in 100 g trays. They have been sold in many Match supermarkets in France since September 22, 2025. The list of points of sale is available at this address.
The barcode to find is 3523680467316, lot n° 52650, use-by date set for the 7th October 2025.
The third reminder is dedicated, once again, to Match supermarkets, which offer 100 g trays of the brand’s natural shrimp Carrefour Le Marché. They were sold in a plethora of points of sale between September 22 and 25, 2025. The list can be found here.
3523680439603 is listed as the barcode, and 52650 as the batch number. The use-by date is October 8, 2025.
Finally, the fourth and final reminder concerns U supermarkets (Super U, Hyper U etc.). It targets “cooked peeled” shrimp packaged in 100 g trays of the U Bio brand, sold between the 22nd September and the 1st october 2025.
These are the trays displaying the health mark FR 44 143 005 EU, barcode 3256228462077 and from lot n°52650, use-by date October 7, 2025, which are targeted.
Potential presence of listeria
The national recall campaign is motivated by the potential presence of listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria responsible for listeriosis, a potentially fatal disease that affects 350 to 400 people per year and is the second leading cause of foodborne death.
THE symptoms of listeriosis are variable and not very specific, ranging from an absence of clinical signs, moderate diarrhea or flu-like symptoms (fever, body aches, headaches…) to neurological disorders such as meningitis or meningoencephalitis (severe pain headache, high fever, nausea, vomiting, behavioral problems…).
Sometimes complications can arise. ANSES mentions a risk of requiring one hospitalization in 20 to 30% of cases, with complications such as meningitis, encephalitis or bacteremia.
Contracting the disease can be very dangerous for at-risk populations, including immunocompromised people, children and pregnant women. Notably, because the infection can go unnoticed or be reduced to contractions or a flu-like state, note the Ministry of Agriculture.
In pregnant women, contamination carries risks of miscarriage, premature birth or non-viable fetus.
Especially since the incubation period can be up to two months, explains the Pasteur Institute. We must therefore be particularly vigilant about the products we eat every day.
An organized refund
For all these reasons, it is strongly recommended not to consume these shrimps. Consumer reminder encourage them return to store where they were purchased and to make themselves known for a refund until October 19, 2025.
