Coronavirus: A New Death Recorded in the Oise

The coronavirus killed three people in France, including two in the department of Oise.

The toll of the Covid-19 coronavirus is increasing. Another infected person in the Oise died.

The death toll from coronavirus has just increased in Franceperson infected with Covid-19 has died in the Oise, AFP announced Monday 2nd March.


It is an 89-year-old woman from Crépy-en-ValoisShe was diagnosed with a “post-mortem” at the hospital of Compiègne. She suffered from other pathologies according to the mayor of the city.



This death comes less than a week after that, Tuesday 25th February, of a teacher of the college of Crépy-en-Valois (Oise), aged 60. Declared positive for the coronavirus, he had been hospitalized at La Pitié-Salpêtrière , in Paris, before dying there. He was the first Frenchman to die of coronavirus on the territory.

47 cases in the Oise

Sunday 1 st of March, the number of cases was 47 in Oise . Among them, a master corporal from the Lassigny barracks, also a caregiver at the Compiègne hospital. “It was tested positive and placed in quarantine,” said Eric de Valroger, president of the Sdis (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service) of Oise.

The prefect of Oise himself has been confined since Monday 2nd March “as a precautionary measure”.

The main source of the virus’s spread in France, the Oise is targeted by strict measures. In particular, all gatherings are prohibited and the schools of the municipalities concerned (Creil, Crépy-en-Valois, Vaumoise, Lagny-le-Sec and Lamorlaye) are closed.

Two other outbreaks are affected by the same restrictions: the commune of La Balme-de-Sillingy in Haute-Savoie (10 cases) and Morbihan, where 13 cases have been detected since Sunday in four communes.

The number of people infected is 130 in France. Among them, 12 have been cured and 116 are hospitalized, including 9 in serious condition.

This new death brings to three the number of victims of Covid-19 in France.

New figures are expected in the evening.
