Bad weather: the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var in red alert for "rain and floods"

Meteo France has placed the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var in red alert for “rain and floods”. The Vaucluse, the Drôme and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence are in an orange alert.

Meteo France has just updated its weather report. From now on, the Maritime Alps and the Var are placed in red alert rain and floods . The Vaucluse, the Drôme, and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence are still in orange alert with the weather.

The end of the alert is scheduled for Monday 2nd December, at night.

Caution is required

On the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes: the precipitation will intensify, in particular, the littoral part. In these areas, expected accumulations are of the order of 150 to 200mm. Forecasters alert:

The risks of runoff and overflowing of coastal rivers are very significant.”

In the Vaucluse, the rains will last until the end of the afternoon with accumulations up to 100 mm locally. “On the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence: the precipitation that is currently occurring in the west of the department is intensifying. They will remain strong until afternoon, “says Météo-France.

In view of the dramatic consequences of bad weather last week when five people died, the weather station warned:


“Heavy rains expected over the southeast will generate significant floods.”

It is thus advisable to:

  • Avoid the secondary road network;
  • Take the usual precautions if you live in a flood zone;
  • Avoid using electrical appliances;
  • Get safe to avoid lightning;
