Power cut in Ile-de-France due to short circuit

On Wednesday 27th November 2019, thousands of homes in Ile-de-France were impacted by a power cut around 10pm. A short circuit would be the cause of the failure.

Day – night, day – night. This is what happened in Ile-de-France for two to three minutes, this Wednesday 27th November 2019, around 10pm.

The region was impacted by a giant power outage that only lasted a few minutes. Thousands of homes were affected by this incident.


A short circuit in a transformer

Very quickly, electricity came back everywhere but many departments were affected as for example: Paris, Yvelines, Seine-et-Marne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis.

On social networks, a video was very quickly circulated showing a short circuit in a transformer in Cergy, in the Val d’Oise. Several explosions were heard by the inhabitants.

Technical incident

RTE, the EDF network manager has published information on this subject on his Twitter account explaining that a “technical incident occurred on the substation RTE Cergy-Pontoise at 21:50”.
