Britain’s Simon Yates won his second stage at the Prat d’Albis (Ariège) on Sunday, July 21, 2019. Julian Alaphilippe retains the yellow jersey at the end of the Pyrenees.

And two for Simon Yates (Mitchelton)! The Briton won the 15th stage of the Tour de France in 2019 atop the Prat d’Albis (Ariege), Sunday, July 21, 2019. The French Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck) retains the yellow jersey, not without having suffered in the last ascent of the day: the neck of the Prat d’Albis (Ariège), near Foix.


Yates already winner of Toulouse-Bagnères

At the end of the 185 km of this stage of Limoux (Aude) , Simon Yates, already winner of the 12th stage Thursday between Toulouse and Bagneres-de-Bigorre, beat thirty seconds the French Thibaut Pinot (Groupama- FDJ), 2nd, and Spaniard Mikel Landa (Movistar), 3rd.

In the overall standings, Julian Alaphilippe loses some precious seconds, but still retains his yellow tunic, 1 minute and 35 seconds ahead of defending champion Geraint Thomas . The good performance of the day was again signed by Thibaut Pinot, 4th overall. Already winner Saturday to Tourmalet, he finished 2nd on the stage and gleans time on the leading trio thanks to a fiery end.


Now at 1 minute and 50 seconds from Julian Alaphilippe, he can also land claiming title. The rest of the race promises to be raised in the Alps!
