The National Days of Archaeology, which will take place on June 15th and 16th, 2019, will be the opportunity to (re) discover the heritage of Châteaubriant (Loire-Atlantique) for free.
It would be a shame to deprive oneself of it. On Saturday 15 and Sunday, June 16, 2019, during the National Days of Archeology , the guided tours of Chateau de Châteaubriant (Loire-Atlantique) and workshops will be exceptionally free, says the Department .

The seigniorial residence . At 2.30 pm Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes. Not accessible to people with reduced mobility (many steps).
The castle . At 11 am and 4 pm Duration: 1 hour.
The exhibition Lands of treasures , in the presence of the curator Gildas Salaün, head of the medalist of the Dobrée museum. At 3 pm and 5 pm Duration: 45 min.

Gallic walk in Pays de Châteaubriant . Saturday 15th June at 10.45 am and 2 pm Duration: 30 min.
Description: Under the trowel of archaeologists, the Gallic period is very different from the images of Epinal inherited from the nineteenth century. After a quick overview of what the Celtic civilization has to offer in the light of recent discoveries, a panoramic view of the Gallic sites in the Pays de Châteaubriant and the surrounding area, from simple farms to fortified sites and to the bottom of the mines .
Southern access to the castle: evolution and transformation . Saturday 15th June at 11.30 am and 2 pm Duration: 30 min.
Description: The current state of the Castle Fields gate requires restoration in the near future. An archaeological study of buildings was commissioned, with the dual objective of retracing its history within the medieval defense system while collecting the information essential for its safeguarding. This conference presents the conclusions and hypotheses formulated by archaeologists.
Trades and techniques of archaeology . Sunday 16th June at 11:30 am and 3 pm Duration: 30 min.
Description: From the field to the laboratory, archaeologists study the remains of the past. Their discoveries plunge us into the history of humanity to understand our present and better understand our future. The professions of archeology are varied, sometimes unknown. This workshop proposes to discover the various professions of archeology and its techniques in constant evolution.

The archaeological survey . At 2 pm and 3.30 pm Duration: 1 h. Limited number of places, reservations recommended.
Description: Go through the door of the castle chapel and discover under your feet a much older building! Learn some archeology basics and get back on the story. The participants manipulate several archaeological objects (animal bones, ceramics …) to discover the history of the building.
