Thursday 4th April, the low-cost airline easyJet inaugurated its 7th French base in Nantes. With three planes on site and 110 jobs created.
Thursday 4th April, 2019, easyJet company , low cost operator, inaugurated a seventh base in France, at Nantes Atlantique airport .
EasyJet announced that it has created more than 110 direct jobs including nearly 40 pilot positions and more than 70 cabin crew positions .
The company says:
“Among them, new entrants recruited in Nantes as well as native Nantais stationed in other easyJet bases.”
Indirect employment is concerned with the hundreds of jobs induced by the development of an airline.
Two million more seats
Three Airbus A320s are now based on the airport platform. They allow an offer of two million seats.
The company easyJet intends to obtain a leading position with 25% market share in 2019 in Nantes-Atlantique , or 1.8 million passengers .
Fourteen new destinations are launched this spring 2019. This brings the total number of destinations to 27, including eleven exclusive, with an improvement in the frequencies and schedules of existing lines.
The business , which represent 20% of passengers easyJet Nantes and up to 27% on domestic routes, will make return trips in the day to Lyon , Nice or Toulouse , where other means of transport less suitable.
In 2019, easyJet’s capacity on domestic lines connecting Nantes will increase by 30%.
The cap of 6.5 million passengers crossed
The company has reached the milestone of 6.5 million passengers transported to and from Nantes, since the beginning of its operations in 2008.
At the opening ceremony of the base, guests were able to witness the landing of an Airbus 320Neo from London. The opportunity to discover this new generation aircraft with enhanced sound and carbon performance.
The operator also unveiled a locally based aircraft whose fuselage is decorated with an emblem of the city: the city of the Dukes . This plane will make the city and its region shine in the 27 destinations served by easyJet from Nantes.
