According to the Figaro, with Tropico – whose advertising slogan “when it’s too much Tropico” is particularly known – the American group acquires for the first time a French brand. The amount of the transaction has not been specified.

Non-carbonated fruit drinks Tropico, whose turnover amounts to 29 million euros according to the Figaro, had passed from the hands of the giant Unilever to those of a pension fund, before being bought by the Cafés Folliet company in 2005.

Coca-Cola had already announced the end of August the acquisition of the British chain selling Costa coffee, paying 3.9 billion pounds.

Coca-Cola is looking to diversify even further as it has undergone changes in consumer habits in recent years that are unfavorable to sugar-sweetened beverages, including the fight of many governments against obesity.
