In Ligue 1, Caen loses to Saint-Etienne

Despite the opener, Stade Malherbe Caen conceded their second defeat of the season, Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Saint-Etienne.

The beautiful Caen series of four games without defeat ended on the lawn of Saint-Étienne. Caen lost 2-1 to Geoffroy-Guichard on Saturday , September 22, 2018. The Caen have yet opened the scoring at the half hour mark by Fayçal Fajr following a hand fault by Stéphane Ruffier. ASSE reacted logically and started forcing on the goal of Brice Samba. The Greens equalized after the return of the locker room after a foul by Adama Mbengue (1-1, 48 ‘), and took the lead after a scramble by Kolodziejczak (2-1, 65’). Caen had some situations to return, but it is especially Saint-Etienne who insisted late in the game.

The Malherbists played bad luck in central defense. Romain Genevois came out very quickly, replaced by Ismaël Diomandé. The latter himself had to leave the field at half-time, and it was Emmanuel Imorou who came into play.

Caen is sixteenth in the standings.
