France beat Argentina in World Cup 2018, to qualify for Quarter Finals

This Saturday, the France team beat Argentina (4-3) in the first of the knockout rounds of World Cup 2018, including a double from Kylian Mbappé.

Les Bleus were heroic. This Saturday 30th June, 2018, they beat Argentina in the first of the knockout stages of the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

They offered a very fluid and powerful game, very far from the rather dull spectacle they had showed to us during the first three games of the World Cup. The  spectators and viewers attended a festival of goals: four from the French side, three on the Argentine side.

Kylian Mbappé scored twice, and France’s Antoine Griezmann and Benjamin Pavard scored one.

Griezmann released

From the start, they pushed towards the Argentine goal. Antoine Griezmann, rather discreet at the beginning of the competition, appeared more liberated. He sent a great free kick in the 9th minute to the crossbar.

Then he converted a penalty in the 13th, conceded after a crazy race of Kylian Mbappé all over the field, which ended up shoved in the Argentine surface.

Harmless start for Argentina

The Argentinians, rather harmless at the beginning of the game, finally launched the machine at the half-hour of play. She returned to the score in the 41st after a superb curling shot by the Parisian Angel Di Maria:

Lionel Messi, aligned in a position of nine and a half, was not very prominent. The five-time Golden Ball may be living his last World Cup at age 31.

Javier Maschenaro, warned, will not play in quarter if Argentina qualifies.

In the second half, the South Americans were more aggressive. At the 48th, Lionel Messi saw his shot deflected by Mercado.

The French, who took a shot on the head, eventually equalise in the 57th minute with a clear shot of young defender, Benjamin Pavard.

Double from Kylian Mbappé

Then they unfolded with a double from Kylian Mbappé.

At the 93rd minute, the Argentines managed to pull one back, with a goal from Kun Agüero:

But they failed to break. The French will therefore meet the winner of Uruguay-Portugal.
