The prefecture decided to lower speed limits for Sunday 19th November, 2017 instead of alternating traffic …
The prefecture of Haute-Garonne on Saturday 18th November, 2017, has decided that the traffic speeds will be reduced again on Sunday 19th November. This decrease in speed aims to counter the fierce air pollution episode that has lasted for several days in Toulouse.
The ring road limited to 70 km/h
This lowering traffic speeds, already decided for the day Saturday, is mandatory on all roads and motorways in the Haute-Garonne department.
Here are the new speed limits:
- the speed is limited to 110 km/h on the portions normally limited to 130 km/h;
- the speed is limited to 90 km/h on the portions normally limited to 110 km/h;
- the speed is limited to 70 km/h on the portions normally limited to 90 km/h
A situation that will last
The air quality will not improve during the day Sunday. Meteo France announces no wind in the coming hours and yet it is he who would allow particulates to go. The episode of pollution should perhaps continue on Monday. Contacted by News Toulouse, the prefecture said that the lowering speeds will rigor time that pollution has not been resolved .
The excluded alternated traffic (for now)
The Haute-Garonne prefect could have taken the decision to implement its anti-pollution decree, signed on 26 October 2017 and published November 17, 2017 the collection of administrative acts. This provides for the establishment of alternated traffic in such circumstances. “We decided not to apply for the current episode to not take people by surprise” , says one to the prefecture. The decree will be presented November 27, 2017.
All drivers must have a sticker
The prefecture stresses the need for all motorists, with polluting or not vehicles to acquire the Crit’air sticker from the Internet. If the order was applied, then all vehicles without a sticker will not be allowed to use the roads. It is this that determines sticker, especially if your vehicle can run or not during pollution episodes.
