Nokia plans 597 job cuts in France by 2019 in its subsidiaries Alcatel Lucent International and Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) , out of a total of 4,200 people in the two companies, said Wednesday AFP door Floor-Finnish group.
The job cuts will affect the central functions and support these subsidiaries based in the Paris campus of Saclay (Essonne) and Lannion (Côtes d’Armor), while research and development functions will be “not concerned” they have said.
The plan presented on September 18 to staff representatives
The distribution of cuts between Paris-Saclay and Lannion is “not yet decided at this stage” and the plan will be presented on 18 September in representative bodies of the two subsidiaries.
The two other subsidiaries in France, Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks (submarine cable) and RFS (Radio Frequency) are not affected by this “change project”, justified by the plan of the parent to release 1 2 billion euros in savings by 2018, according to the spokesman.
The chronic difficulty in group chose to reposition France in center of excellence in research and development on three key technologies: 5G, cybersecurity and the Internet of Things.
Following its acquisition of Alcatel Lucent last year, Nokia had already cut 400 jobs in France. The current staffing of its four subsidiaries in the country totaled 5,260 employees.
