Legislative: 521 Candidates for LREM and Friends Spared

La Republique en Marche will have 521 candidates for the Legislative elections

The national nomination committee (INC) candidate of La Republique en Marche (LREM), the movement of Emmanuel Macron has completed its work and made a list of 521 names published on Wednesday.

Of these 521 names, half (261) are women, including “at least 50%” in constituencies “winnable”, told Reuters the secretary general of the CNI, Samuel Deguara. LREM had first mistakenly announced 522 candidates, not 521.

Thirty districts are also frozen under the political recomposition. In other words, there will be no LREM candidates in constituencies where personalities from either the left and right which have indicated they would support the government.

The remaining 577 constituencies are those of the departments overseas, which respond to different designation rules.

In total, some 19,000 application forms have been sent by Internet to En Marche! since the 19th January
