Uefa Decide not to Suspend PSG Barcelona Referee Deniz Aytekin

Uefa will not be suspending Deniz Aytekin despite complaints about his performance in Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The famous comeback was helped by three penalty decisions that went in Barcelona’s way, with Luis Suarez going down in the box in the final minute of normal time.

The converted penalty brought Barcelona within a goal of a the famous comeback and PSG were furious with several decisions made by Aytekin.

Reports in Spain claim the German was set to be demoted or even suspended by Uefa for his poor display, president Aleksander Ceferin dismissed the rumours as false.

‘We will not suspend the referee from that match, referees are not suspended,’ he told AFP.

‘That would be like suspending a player who missed a penalty kick when he should simply go to the bench if he misses many penalty shots.’

PSG sent a lengthy letter of complaint to Uefa questioning several game-changing decisions and urging the governing body to assure the same mistakes would not be repeated.

The French champions had a four goal lead heading into the second leg of the last-16 tie, but somehow conceded six goals in Barcelona.
