F1: Ferrari Unveils its New Car, the “SF70”

The team Ferrari today unveiled its new car for the 2017 F1 season, called "SF70H"

After the presentation of Mercedes, now the Ferrari team responds tit for tat also unveiling its new car. Presented in Maranello, Italy, the “SF70H” must allow Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen to at least reduce the gap with Mercedes and its three championship titles in a row

While Mercedes yesterday presented its W08 Hybrid, Ferrari unveils turn his new car: the “SF70”. The name “SF70” refers to the 70 years of the “Scuderia Ferrari”, born in March 1947 with the launch of the 125S with a bolide presented to the historic headquarters of the brand is the heir. H is for hybrid.

Ferrari, which ended with a disappointing 2016 season. without any wins, hope to do better in 2017. Last year, the Scuderia was third among manufacturers, Vettel and Raikkonen taking the fourth and sixth places in the drivers’ standings.

The first tests will take place Monday

A few laps are scheduled on Friday late morning at the Fiorano circuit before the first test in Barcelona on Monday, with Raikkonen at the wheel.

Visually very different from the Mercedes W08 Hybrid presented Thursday at Silverstone, including the new Ferrari has a large white shark fin which caps the bonnet. This is also the main trace of white, SF70H being much more red than its predecessor, the SF16-H.

The nose of the car is also more elongated and, as with all the cars this season, tyres are much wider as well.  The F1 world championship starts on the 26th March in Australia. Ferrari has not won drivers’ title since 2007 with Raikkonen. It last won the manufacturers title back in 2008.
