WTA – Quebec: First title for the French Oceane Dodin

Oceane Dodin won the first title of her young career at the WTA in Quebec

The French, Oceane Dodin, won at 19 years old, her first title on the women’s circuit by winning the tournament in Quebec City, on Sunday.

Tthe American Lauren Davis, world 104th, was beaten in the final in two sets 6-4, 6-3. With this success, Dodin, World 132nd earlier this week, became the youngest winner of a WTA title since the beginning of the year and on Monday will enter the top 100 (number 93) in the world rankings.  When she was winless on the WTA Tour in 2016, it has chained four consecutive victories in Quebec. She dominated from start to finish in the final with her service, with eight aces and 69% of points won on his first serves.

Fright in the second set

Dodin had a scare in the second set she started briskly yet to lead 3-0. But she saw her opponent, finalist in Washington in July, back to 4-3, before returning to service.

Third French title in Quebec

“I love this tournament, I feel in France because people support me a lot, it helped me a lot during this final” , she assured.

“When I led 3-0 in the second set, I started to be nervous and to think that I could win the title. She came back into the game, but I told myself that I could not afford to play a third set “, Said Dodin, who is the third French player to win in Quebec after Nathalie Tauziat (1993) and Marion Bartoli (2006).
