The body of Melanie Guerin was found in a ravine in Tindobato in Nepal

The body of Melanie Guerin was found in a ravine in Tindobato, about 70 kilometres from Pokhora.  Missing in Nepal, Since August 13th, she had stayed a few days before her disappearance.

The body of Melanie Guerin, a Nantes tourist missing in Nepal since August 13th, was found in a state of “advanced decomposition” in a ravine Tindobato, located about 70 kilometres from Pokhora city where she had stayed a few days before his disappearance .

“We were informed by the Nepalese authorities that the body of Ms. Guerin missing in Nepal on August 13th, was found” , said the Foreign Ministry. “We are in close contact with the family of our compatriot Nantes ” , said the Foreign Ministry in a statement. Jean-Marc Ayrault met with the family of Melanie Guerin “to express condolences and to inform him of its full solidarity in this ordeal. ”

His business found at roadside

Since the 6th August, Melanie Guerin, 35 years old, had not been heard from. Her bag was found abandoned near a road. Born in Freignée (Maine-et-Loire) and lived in Nantes where she works, she left for a month in Nepal. Alone, she was “woofing”, a way of travelling whilst working for free in exchange for lodging and a meal. Concerned relatives had reported her disappearance to the police station of Nantes earlier this week.

An investigation had been opened in Nepal since the discovery of personal belongings of Nantes, abandoned on the side of a road in central Canada. Between Pohkora, she left the bus, and Lumbini, 180 km away. In her bag were her passport, plane ticket and the trip. In Nantes, the prosecutor had opened an investigation for “worrying disappearance”.
