The fire broke out at around 6.30am,  Monday morning in a farm building located in the municipality of Châteauneuf-du-Faou near Carhaix in Finistere.  About 15,000 chickens that were inside a chicken house died in the fire, reported Ouest-France . The newspaper said the fire was of criminal origin.

Twenty firefighters from the fire stations of Châteauneuf-du-Faou to Pleyben, Saint-Goazec and Spézet intervened to extinguish the fire.  On 21 December 22,000 chickens had died in the fire of a barn in the town of Saint Hervé near Vitré in Ille-et-Vilaine.

The police have opened an investigation.
