Orginally five in the little boat

“Around 5:30am, a migrant was found lying on a beach in Sangatte and in a hypothermic state and requested assistance and said to have been on a boat with four other people,” said the Prefecture of the Pas-de-Calais, adding that a rescue mission launched at 7am, had found and recovered the boat and its passengers were “alive”.

According to the Regional Operational Centre for Surveillance and Rescue (CROSS), searches were carried out by the sea rescue of Pas-de-Calais and firefighters aided by a helicopter of the Belgian Army “adapted for night search.”

The migrants had been very fortunate as this weekend, a storm warning with winds up to 140 km/h was issued by the maritime prefecture.  The migrant found on the beach said the boat had parted from a beach in Dunkirk, during the night to try to reach Britain.
