Imprisoned in 2002 for terrorism in France, released in 2011, Merouane Benahmed had been under house arrest in Evron (Mayenne). The security forces are looking for him. He has fled.
Merouane Benahmed, 43 is a former member of the GIA, the Armed Islamic Group. He fled Algeria in 1999. In France, the former terrorist was sentenced to ten years imprisonment in the case of suspected plan of the Chechen networks to attack in Paris.
Released in 2011, he has been under house arrest. He is Forbidden to be on French territory, but because the European Court of Human Rights has refused his extradition because of his death sentence in Algeria, he has had to remain here in France, but under house arrest and strict conditions.
Merouane Benahmed was under house arrest in an apartment in Evron making daily visits to the Gendarmerie in Evron, before he fled. The security forces are actively seeking him and an international search and arrest warrant has been issued against him.
Before living in Mayenne, Merouane Benahmed, was assigned a turn in Beaupréau and Segre in the Maine-et-Loire and then in Châteaulin in July 2015 in the Finistère.
