Vendée Globe: Armel Le Cléac’h takes the lead, Alex Thomson Slows

Armel Le Cléac'h is again leading the Vendée Globe after overtaking Alex Thomson this morning.

Armel Le Cléac’h (Banque Populaire) comes back to the top of the Vendée Globe. He leads Alex Thomson (Hugo Boss) by seven miles, and the Briton was slow and the gap may widen. Sébastien Josse (Edmond de Rothschild) is third but already advanced more than 320 miles.

Twentieth day of racing in the Vendée Globe and this morning Armel Le Cléac’h doubled Alex Thomson who led the fleet for several days. Armel Le Cléac’h (Banque Populaire) has come back tonight and advance much faster than the skipper of Hugo Boss.

Behind the gap is made. Sébastien Josse retains his third place but is 347 miles behind. The skipper of Edmond de Rothschild is averaging 13.9 knots and the gap is expected to increase. If they point to 700 miles behind the Meilhat-Beyou duo advance much faster and could return in the race today. This duo should pass the Cape of Good Hope in the coming hours.
