Beware of storms and heavy rains if you live in the Gard or the Bouches-du-Rhône. On Friday night, Meteo France placed these two departments in an orange alert, with the forecast for thunderstorms and heavy rain. Prolonged orange alert Saturday morning and valid until Sunday 6am.
Up to 80 to 120 mm at the least in mobile storms
Meteo France warned against a “rain-storm episode assets with strong occasional rain totals under very mobile storms.”
“Throughout the day Saturday, rain and storms still gain momentum and become a very intense in places. The storms will also be accompanied by hail. The totals will be significant, often approaching 50 to 80 mm, but occasionally it could be as much as 80 to 120 mm, with some of the more mobile storms,” notes Meteo France. At Saint Jean du Gard, and we have already collected 54 mm, 51 mm in one hour. Meteo France fears include a “runoff in sensitive urban zones”
Heavy thundershowers may also affect the day in Vaucluse and the coast of the Var, to a lesser extent.
