The historic association between McLaren and Gulf is revived through a new official partnership. The Gulf oil company logo will thus be able to be found both on the brand’s Formula 1 cars and on production cars.
Gulf and motor racing is a long love affair. In the past, we remember the iconic livery of the Ford GT40 victorious at Le Mans, the world champion Porsche 917 or the success of the Mirage-Ford. All dressed in the famous colours: blue and orange.
Past successes
Between McLaren and Gulf, the first collaboration dates back to the end of the 60s in Formula 1 before the partnership was then relaunched in endurance in the 90s with, in particular, the formidable McLaren F1 GTR.
Full partnership
The Gulf logo will now appear on McLaren’s latest Formula 1, which is already in the colours of the tanker. Gulf will also be visible on pilots ‘and mechanics’ suits. The partnership also concerns McLaren road cars, it will allow the automaker to offer the legendary Gulf livery to a few customers.
