In the Pyrenees:, the snow is back

WEATHER: White is back on the Pyrenees. Nearly one metre of snow is expected at some places in altitude by Sunday

It will be necessary to wait until the end of the month to be able to put on the skis and to hurtle the tracks. While waiting for the opening of the first stations of the Pyrenees, November 30 for Les Angles, the snow fell in mass these last hours on the solid mass.

Many villages woke up this morning under a thick white coat this Friday morning, whether tonight in the west or east, on the Spanish or French side.

While snow was scarce in altitude above 2,000 m, a significant snowpack is forming on the Pyrenees according to Meteo France.

“The cumulative amount of fresh snow in 24 hours often reaches 30 to 40 cm above 1,800 to 2,000 m. By the end of the weekend, an additional 20 to 40 cm are expected on the majority of the massifs above 1,800 m, “says the forecast centre in its mountain bulletin.

“From Friday to Sunday, about 50 cm of snow will fall in the mountains and up to 90 cm to 2,500 m altitude,” says Pascal Boureau, weather forecaster at Meteo France.
