In Nantes, the driver was tested positive for amphetamines and alcohol after running the lights.
The facts occurred this Sunday morning, shortly after 8am, in Nantes, said the police.
On patrol in the Chaffault district, police saw a vehicle with four people on board, who had just ran through a red light while travelling at about 90 km/h. The latter pursuing his route at a brisk pace, the officials ordered the driver to stop.
The mis en cause, aged 25, ended up obeying after a few moments of hesitation. Driving without a license, under the influence of narcotics – tested positive for amphetamines – and with a blood alcohol level of 0.9 mg per litre of exhaled air, he was taken into custody.
But when he arrived at the police station, he attacked a policeman, insulting him and punching him in the face and shin, the police said.
Injured in the face, the policeman was prescribed a day of ITT and filed a complaint. When taken out of police custody, the driver will be summoned by the police to receive additional toxicological results, with a view to a judicial decision.
