PINK OCTOBER: The Eiffel Tower will be illuminated in pink on Tuesday for the launch of Breast Cancer Screening Month
The kickoff of Pink October, awareness month screening of breast cancer, will be given on Tuesday night with a free concert of the voice of Rita Mitsouko Catherine Ringer, and British singer Dido at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, illuminated in pink for the occasion.
The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, will launch at 20:20 the countdown to enlightenment, accompanied by the TV presenter Cristina Cordula and Vaimalama Chaves, Miss France 2019.
The Eiffel Tower accompanies Pink October since 2015
Since 2015, the “Iron Lady” has been changing its colour since the breast cancer information and fundraising campaign, the most frequent and deadliest for women.
New in 2019, a free concert will follow in Trocadero, with the former half of Rita Mitsouko, whose tube Marcia Baïla, in 1984, paid tribute to the dancer and choreographer Marcia Moretto, carried away by breast cancer.
Concert accessible by reservation
She will share the stage with pop-rock singer Dido, touring with her fifth album nearly twenty years after the worldwide success of her debut album, No Angel. Called “HEROES”, “in tribute to all those who fight the disease”, the outdoor concert will be available by reservation, says the organizing association, Breast Cancer, Let’s Talk!
Previously, the association will have awarded the Cité de l’architecture its Pink Ribbon Awards for Research: 550,000 euros to the five winning research projects and a three-year scholarship of 180,000 euros.
