The Reds took their revenge on 2018 by dominating their English neighbours Tottenham 2-0 in the Champions League final Saturday (June 1st) in Madrid (Spain).

Liverpool at the top of Europe … and boredom! The “Reds” Mohamed Salah, who scored from the penalty spot after 1 minute 48 seconds stifled Tottenham (2-0) in a final 100% 0% English and flamboyant Saturday 1 st June 2019 in the Champions League , winning in Madrid their sixth continental crown.

“It’s really good”

While the show had been breathtaking in the semi-finals, the most apathetic finale of the decade was decimated after 23 seconds of play, on a penalty conceded by the French arm Moussa Sissoko, and transformed by Salah Metropolitano stadium. Then a cross shot of Belgian Divock Origi in the 87 th minute bent this sleepy match.

No matter the trouble, the revenge is beautiful for the Egyptian, unfortunate hero of the final lost the previous year by Liverpool against Real Madrid (3-1). This meager advantage was also enough for the happiness of the coach Jürgen Klopp, finally titled in the Champions League on his third attempt.

“It’s really good,” savored the German.

“It’s a shattering sensation, but I’m much calmer than I thought it would be when it finally happened.”

At the final whistle, while the “kop” of Liverpool intoned the famous “You’ll never walk alone”, Klopp has embraced calmly his staff before communing with his players, cap screwed on the head.

We will not remember either the score or the scenario, worthy of the most cynical performances of Atlético Madrid, accustomed to narrow scores in his lair of Metropolitano. We only retain the winning club, which moved to the third step of the winners of the European queen-test behind Real Madrid (13 coronations) and AC Milan (7).

A year after the defeat against Real Zidane, Madrid will this time as a good memory for Liverpool, erasing its rageante 2 th place in the Premier League. Cruel for Tottenham, who lived his first Champions League final.

“It’s painful because we lost but we have to stay positive,” said Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino.

“I hope this will be the beginning of a successful period for the club.”

Cold

Did the finalists leave all their influx in the semifinals breathtaking? As in the previous Anglo-British final, between Manchester United and Chelsea (1-1 ap, 6 tab to 5) in 2008, we were bored hard under the scorching temperatures of the Metropolitano stadium.

Everything began with a cold snap, from the first action: overflow of Sadio Mané center diverted from the shoulder, then the arm by Sissoko and penalty, perhaps severe. Mohamed Salah, the unfortunate Salah who was out injured after 30 minutes last year against Real, turned him into a force against Hugo Lloris (2nd).

“The referee has very quickly made his decision, after everyone is free to have his interpretation on this game fact. It is certainly a bit unfair to Moussa,” commented Lloris.

But the fifth goal of Salah in this Champions League which should have ignited the meeting, instead stunned everyone. The “Reds”, not to discover themselves, have lengthened the game.

The bet Kane missed

For its part, Tottenham was forced to go through the axis, being too rough, while the attacker Harry Kane, holder for his return from injury but clearly lacking pace, looked like a bet lack…

In short, after hours of feasting in the sun while enjoying the local beverages, thousands of English fans could fall asleep without fear. And the enthusiasts who spent lavishly to buy places on the run, sometimes for almost 5,000 euros each, did not really get their money’s worth.

The second period was slightly more exciting , when Tottenham, a survivor of so many desperate situations this season, tried to provoke fate again. But the excellent Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been vigilant, especially before His Heung-min and Lucas Moura (79 th ).

In 2018, the blunders of goalkeeper Loris Karius had sealed Liverpool. This time, the new doorman of the “Reds” had the firm hand. And even if those of Hugo Lloris did not much trembled, the French lost at the end of the match on the cross shot of Origi.

The boredom was over, the night could begin: thousands of euphoric fans of the “Reds”, many of whom had wished to be present in Madrid, even without a ticket, let their joy in the streets, with this magic figure to the mouth: six times champions!
