Director and screenwriter Jean-Claude Brisseau, author of a dozen films, died this Saturday. He died in a hospital in Paris after a long illness, announced his entourage.

In 2005, he was sentenced by the Paris Criminal Court to one year of suspended imprisonment and a fine of 15,000 euros  for “sexual harassment” against two young actresses. He had recently been overtaken by the #MeToo movement, the Cinémathèque canceling the end of 2017 the retrospective she had to devote to it.

White Wedding , its greatest success

His film Noce Blanche , released in 1989, will remain his greatest success (over 1.8 million admissions). For the first time, he directed the young Vanessa Paradis, who won the César for best female hope for this feature film.

Previously he had directed “De Bruit and Fureur”, another shock movie, with the faithful Bruno Cremer , on the suburbs this time.

In 2012 “La Fille de nulle part”  earned him the “Pardo d’oro” (Golden Leopard) of the Locarno Film Festival.

“Que le diable nous emporte ”  is his latest film, released early 2018, with Fabienne Babe.
