The latest unUnemployment Increaseemployment figures for December 2014, have just been released and it doesn’t offer any good news.  In the Loire-Atlantique area there were 110,848 jobseekers registered looking for work, an increase of 1% compared to November and and large increase of 8.5% compared to this time last year.

If you break down the figures, into the details of who are searching for employment, currently 57,568 women and 53,280 men are unemployed in the department. Nearly 19,000 job seekers are under the age of 25 and over 21,000 unemployed people are aged 50 or more.

Between December 2013 and December 2014, the increase in unemployment is highest among men aged 50 and over which has risen by  12.5%. The long-term unemployment has also jumped 15% over this period as well, which means that at the end of December 2014, there were currently 47,262 people looking for work for more than a year.

Something has got to change to reverse this trend, but at the present, the Government, do not seem to be coming up with any positive solutions to the problems.
