As is the tradition, the 17th March is St. Patrick’s day. The occasion to celebrate Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. This Irish speciality is exported across the English Channel.
In Saint-Lô
St. Patrick’s Day will be an opportunity to remember the Irish Hospital. Nearly 180 babies were born between 1945 and 1947 in this temporary hospital run by the Irish Red Cross and installed in wooden barracks in Saint-Lô (Manche). At 11:30, the association Buiochas, children of 1946 , presided over by Jean Lascoux, gives you an appointment at the stele, in front of the Pasteur College, for a commemoration in memory of the Irish of the hospital.
But St. Patrick’s Day is also (and especially) an opportunity to party. With the group from Caen, Celtic Pipe , which will tour bars, from 8 pm to midnight. Armed with their bagpipes and drums, the five musicians, in traditional dress, will make sets of 30 minutes at Neptune, Castel Pub, La Rotonde, O’Commerce, Santa Cruz and La Maison.
Irish music will not only resonate in bars. At 10:30, Bagad de Saint-Lô-Vire will offer an entertainment on the Saint-Lô market.
Another event not to be missed: the big winter sale of merchants . From 10 am to 7 pm, you can shop on the sidewalks or in the shops, depending on the weather.
Note that the ramparts and City Hall will be dressed in green.
A Granville
The Purple Lounge, the club of Granville Casino (Manche), creates the event on the occasion of St Patrick’s Day. From 10:30 pm to 4 pm , go to Ireland for one night. If the entrance is free, to be able to taste the atmosphere of Purple, it will be necessary to apply the dress code: to dress in green. In Sainte-Suzanne-sur-Vire
The association Sainte-Suzanne Events will meet you at 7 pm in the village hall for its Irish evening. On the program: live music with William Wilson Berry from 7.30 pm Food and refreshments on site. Free admission.
Coutances
The bar Aux Trois Piliers organizes an Irish evening. The music group Trad & Co will be there. Gifts will be available throughout the evening. If you want to discover the world of Ireland, go from 8 pm to 1 am at 11 rue des halles in Coutances (Manche).
Annoville
The Feu Follet celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. Concert with Katy Szabo on the violin and the voices of Jean-Pierre and Jeannette Corre .
