DEATH: The scientist, Stephen Hawking, was known for his work on black holes and relativity …
At 21, doctors gave him only a few years to live. The eminent British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking , who devoted his life to unlocking the secrets of the universe, died Wednesday at the age of 76, his children announced.
His scientific genius and his characteristic physical disability had made him a world-renowned personality. His work focused on bringing the theory of relativity and quantum theory closer together in an attempt to explain the creation of the Universe and how it works. In 1988 he published the popular book A Brief History of Time , which sold more than nine million copies.
A star just went out in the cosmos. We have lost an amazing human being. Stephen Hawking fought and tamed the cosmos bravely for 76 years and taught us all something importantabout what it truly means to celebrate about being human. I will miss him.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of our beloved father today,” said her children, Lucy, Robert and Tim, in a statement issued by the British Press Association. “He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live for many years to come,” they wrote.
Remembering Stephen Hawking, a renowned physicist and ambassador of science. His theories unlocked a universe of possibilities that we & the world are exploring. May you keep flying like superman in microgravity, as you said to astronauts on @Space_Station in 2014 pic.twitter.com/FeR4fd2zZ5

Has been diagnosed with Charcot’s disease since the 1960s
Stephen Hawking had challenged the predictions that he had only a few years to live after developing a crippling neurodegenerative disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Charcot’s disease, in 1964.
The illness had progressively deprived him of mobility and confined to a wheelchair, almost completely paralyzed and unable to speak except through his iconic voice synthesizer.
His passing has left an intellectual vacuum in his wake. But it’s not empty. Think of it as a kind of vacuum energy permeating the fabric of spacetime that defies measure. Stephen Hawking, RIP 1942-2018. pic.twitter.com/nAanMySqkt
