The actress Danielle Darrieux died 17 October 2017 at the age of 100

Danielle Darrieux died on Tuesday at age 100 years at her home in Bois-le-Roi (Eure) announced her companion.  She made over 100 films during her career.

The legendary actress of French cinema Danielle Darrieux died on Tuesday in more than 100 years at his home in Bois-le-Roi, south of Eure, announced to AFP by her companion. Her condition was “a bit recently deteriorated after a small fall,” said AFP Jacques Jenvrin.

70-year career

The actress, born in 1917 in Bordeaux (Gironde), made over 100 films during her career that began in the 1930s, until 2010, year of its latest feature: Pièce montée by Denys Granier -Deferre.

Libération recalls that it has received three “Victoires du cinéma” (these are the ancestors of the Caesars) for best actress. And she also owned an island in Brittany.

Hollywood and Broadway

“A 100 years ago, it was a person somewhat diminished, but despite her blindness, she was very attached to life. We still had a visit on October 4th, it was fine, “says Jacques Jenvrin, her companion. Archetype of female beauty to the pre-war generations, it was the unforgettable partner of Jean Gabin in “La Vérité sur Bébé Donge” (1953) and Gérard Philipe in “Le Rouge et le Noir” (1954).

She turned 14 years when she made her first film, “Le Bal”. Appreciated for her lovely blond cool and playful, it plays in comedies before tackling more dramatic roles and triumph in “Mayerling” with Charles Boyer (1935).

Alone on stage at the theatre

Egeria Henri Decoin, “DD”, as it was called, made half a dozen films under her direction. Mistreated after the Liberation (under the Occupation, she worked for Continental, led by the Germans), she nevertheless resumes her career and has a string of successes, including “La Ronde” and “Madame de …” (Ophüls), “L’affaire” (Mankiewicz) and” Marie-Octobre “(Duvivier).

In 2003, alone on stage, she created “Oscar and the Pink Lady” Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, which earned her a Molière. She also worked in film and television in 2010.

Danielle Darrieux married three times, with Henri Decoin, the wealthy playboy Porfirio Rubirosa and screenwriter Georges Mitsinkidès, died in the early 90. With the latter, she had adopted a son, died himself shortly after her husband.
