The Church of Saint-Pierre d’Arène, in Nice, was evacuated on Sunday morning, in the Easter Mass after a man with threatening behavior broke into the premises. A security perimeter has been established in this area, close to the Promenade des Anglais.

He brandished “what looked like a sausage” uttering threats
According to information from Nice-Matin , a man dressed in fatigues and gloves entered the church would be launching threats, “looking agitated” a witness told the regional daily.
A judicial source confirmed this account to AFP, adding that the man had “a particular behavior, threatening everyone with death and brandishing what looked like a sausage.”
The man was quickly overpowered and arrested. The mass was then taken, according to the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture. On Twitter, he said that ” the ‘ alert worked perfectly .”

The president of the regional council Eric Ciotti congratulated on Twitter “the perfectly controlled intervention” of the security forces. The first deputy mayor Christian Estrosi has done the same.
