Reduction of the rain-snow limit

“With the arrival of maritime polar air”, explains Yann Amice, temperatures will drop, especially in the northern half initially. If the minimums will remain close to normal, the maximums will become significantly cooler from this Wednesday. And the mercury will drop even more at the end of the week with morning frosts over a large eastern half and a risk of snow at low altitude and locally in the plains in the east. And sleet in the plains.

The rain-snow limit could drop to 400 meters on the massifs during the day of Thursday 26th March and notable snow accumulations are anticipated in the Alps. The wind will calm down in the north, but the mistral and the tramontane will still be strong on Friday 27th March in the south, but also in the following days. Winter is making a notable comeback.
