The More Seductive Honda Prélude Thanks to Mugen

Old F1 fans know the name Mugen, Honda’s partner company that has been competing for ages. Mugen is also developing aesthetic accessories, and has just turned its attention to the new Prelude
It’s hard to deny that the news Prelude is an aesthetic success. Low line, balanced proportions, real visual presence, Honda here delivers a truly attractive coupe, which contrasts with the current automotive landscape. Alas, under the hood, everything is much wiser. The Prelude uses the hybrid mechanics of the Civic, whose four-cylinder gasoline engine and electric motor together develop “a trifle” of around 200 hp.

The Prelude favors efficiency and smoothness of use rather than pure performance. Of course, it is sufficient on a daily basis, but this technical sheet inevitably leaves some amateurs wanting more.
No more plumage, still no rowing
And so Mugen comes to add his two cents. The Japanese preparer has developed a series of aesthetic elements intended to reinforce character sporty coupe. On the program, a complete carbon fiber aerodynamic kit including a front blade, rocker panels, a rear diffuser, a trunk spoiler and even a discreet lower spoiler hidden under the shield.
Added to this are carbon mirror shells, specific lightweight rims and a sports exhaust, worked above all on sound rather than performance gains. Alas again, no engine modifications are planned, so the Prelude remains technically one Civic in sportswear. But hey, even if we would have liked more muscle, we’re not going to complain about having one more beautiful coupe among the swarms of SUV.
